A hollow box-like one-piece metal section (10) of cold rolled steel comprises respective parallel spaced upper and lower surfaces (12,13), and respective opposite side surfaces (14,15) which define an outwardly directed dovetail projection (16) and a complimentary shaped dovetail recess (17). The section has no internal strengthening ribs, and its free longitudinal sides are welded together. A multiplicity of sections (10) can be interconnected to form a temporary roadway, with the projection of one section being slidingly engaged longitudinally into the recess of the section adjacent thereto. Adjacent sections are welded together at the abutting upper surfaces (12). |
