Provided are a cap assembly, and a non-welding or non-soldering type battery pack containing the cap assembly using a rivet, to lower a manufacturing cost and to improve structural stability. The cap assembly comprises a base plate which is mounted on the open upper part of a battery case; a protection circuit module(PCM) which is installed on the base plate; and an electrical insulating top cap which surrounds the PCM and is combined to the upper part of the battery case, wherein the PCM and the base plate have two penetration holes connected to a positive electrode and a negative electrode, and the penetration holes are engaged with a rivet for electrical connection and mechanical connection.
