Rotary encoder for an eddy current sensor system

The wheel has a hollow cylinder section (13) and a radially extending wall area (11) that is manufactured as a pressure rolling part. An electrically conducting contour-track (20) is arranged on a surface and sensed by an eddy current sensor (18) for obtaining rotary motion information. The contour track is designed as a plane and with a breadth that is varied in a sensing direction and is implemented as a coating on the hollow cylinder section and wall area. The track has a dielectric overlay that is coated with a metal oxide- or temperature-resistant plastic.
