A light emitting device and a method for driving the same are provided to perform a stable driving operation by adjusting a discharge voltage in correspondence to a scan line resistance and a parasite capacitance of a pixel. A light emitting device includes data lines(D1~D4), scan lines(S1~S4), plural pixels(E11~E44), and a discharge unit(308). The data lines are arranged in a first direction. The scan lines are arranged in a second direction different from the first direction. The plural pixels are formed on light emitting regions, where the data and scan lines cross with each other. The discharge unit discharges at least one data line to a discharge voltage, which corresponds to a cathode voltage of a corresponding pixel and capacitance of a parasite capacitor in the pixel. |
