METHOD FOR DETERMINING AN ENGAGED RATIO IN A GEARBOX

The process involves dividing an engine speed value measured before changing a transmission ratio by an engine speed value measured after changing the ratio. The division result is compared with stored predetermined values which depend on a transmission (8) to determine an engaged transmission ratio. The change of the ratio is detected by a sensor placed on a clutch (10) through which the transmission is coupled to an engine (6).
