An image forming device having a user restriction function using UWB(Ultra Wide Band) location recognition and a method thereof are provided to enable a manager to allow printing to a specific user group by calculating a distance from a host computer requesting the printing through the UWB communication and permitting the printing if the calculated distance is shorter than a preset distance. A distance calculator(130) calculates the distance from the host computer(100) by estimating a location of the host computer requesting the printing if a printing request is received through the UWB. A printing determiner(140) permits the printing if the calculated distance is shorter than the preset distance. A distance input part(150) receives the preset distance from the manager. An interface(120) receives the printing request from the host computer and receives printing data from the host computer if the printing determiner permits the printing. A printing part(170) prints the received printing data.
