<p>In a settling tank for the separation of sludge from a watr suspension, the sludge on the flat bottom of the tank is kept in a state in which it is capable of flowing, permitting its periodical draining away, by the action of several stirring rods uniformly distributed over the sludge carrying out a straight line horizontal stirring action. The stirrer consists pef. of a grid with several vertical stirring rods and is attached by pivots to swivel arms, one of which is two armed and linked to a cam oscillating mechanism.</p> |
