<p>Paper, having unique printing and self bonding properties and useful in the prodn. of superiorly bound goods such as books, has a bonded coating comprising (a) 20-65% discrete thermoplastic particles coalescing at >=140 degrees F, (b) 75-15% opaque pigment particles, and (c) 5-20% binder which is active below 140 degrees F. In an example, the coating was prepd. from 30.0 wt.% PVC latex (65% solids), 55.6% clay pigment, 6.2% CaCO3 pigment, 7.0% PVA binder, 1.0% calcium stearate dispersion (50% solids) and 0.25% aq. glyoxal soln. (40% glyoxal).</p> |
