Jaws for stretch leveller - uses opposed cylinders normal to work surface

Instead of using sliding wedges to grip the ends of plates and sections for stretch levelling, two opposed hydraulic cylinders at right angles to the surface of the plate are used. The force employed is sufficient to straighten or level the end of the plate/section being gripped, and the pressure in the gripping circuit is matched to that in the pulling circuit, so that the ratio of pulling force to clamping force is always 1:1.5. There is thus no tendency for the workpiece to pull out of the grippers.
