CATANE IMPROVER AND MANUFACTURING THE SAME

A method that can effectively produce a cetane improver using a biodiesel, and a cetane improver that is produced by the method, and is derived from a biodiesel with an excellent cetane value-improving effect are provided. A method for producing a cetane improver comprises: a step of preparing a biodiesel(fatty acid methyl ester) including at least one double bond between adjacent carbons; an epoxidation step of epoxidizing the biodiesel such that the double bonded carbons are saturated to produce first saturated fatty acid methyl ester with an epoxy group; and a nitration step of reacting nitric acid with the first saturated fatty acid methyl ester to produce second saturated fatty acid methyl ester with a nitrate group(-ONO2).
