A rotating arm is arranged at each side of the loom and a flexible belt carrying the weft insertion element extends across the loom and is attached at each end to the outer end of a respective rotating arm. The outer end of each arm moves around a circular track for the belt, and the arms reciprocate rotationally and in synchronism, so that one arm pulls the belt around its associated track whilst the other arm lets the belt out. The belt and weft insertion member are thereby reciprocated backwards and forwards across the loom. The arrangement is used on narrow looms for weaving tapes. The arms have lower inertia than previously used pulley wheels, reducing wear and power requirements, and allowing faster operation.
|
