METHOD FOR DETERMINING THE DISTANCE TO THE POINT OF LINE-TO-GROUND SHORT CIRCUIT IN AN ISOLATED NEUTRAL POWER SYSTEM

The proposed method for determining the distance to the point of line-to-ground short circuit in an isolated neutral power system implies measuring the instantaneous values of current and voltage in the short-circuited power line. The measurement data and the resistances per unit length of the line are used to determine the distance by an equation system. The proposed method is distinctive by its enhanced accuracy due to the elimination of the effect of transition resistance in the point of line-to-ground short circuit on the results of the measurement of the instantaneous values of current and voltage.
