An LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) and a method for manufacturing the same are provided to prevent locally-generated afterimage by dividing an LCD into a plurality of regions and forming capacitance different in each divided region. A plurality of division regions are formed on a substrate, and gate lines(11) and data lines(13) are arranged to intersect each other at the respective division regions and define pixel regions. A thin film transistor(TFT) are formed at each of regions where the gate lines and the data lines intersect each other. A pixel electrode(17a,17b) is connected to each thin film transistor, and is formed in the pixel region. A common electrode(15a,15b,15c) is formed to have a different area overlapping the pixel electrode at one region of the pixel electrode in each pixel region, and alternate with the pixel electrode at the other region. The plurality of division regions are regions divided in a horizontal direction along the gate line. |
