Method for diagnosing lymphoid neoplasma originating from mature B cells with the aid of lectins provides for the simultaneous detection of the carbohydrate determinants interacting with specific lectins on the membrane of the malignant lymphocytes of the peripheral blood and/or bone marrow. Based on the expression level (the percentage of positive cells), the chronic lymphoblastic leukemia, the hairy cell leukemia or the leukemic transition of non-Hodgkin's malignant lymphoma are diagnosed.
