A switched reluctance motor inverter and a driving method thereof are provided to quickly increase electric current to be applied to a motor winding by driving a lower switching element at a predetermined duty ratio at initial phase drive and driving the switching element at constant duty ratio. A motor winding(La) is connected in parallel with a smoothing capacitor supplying DC power. An upper switching element(Q1) and a lower switching element(Q4) are connected in series to the motor winding. A diode is connected to an emitter of the upper switching element, the motor winding and a collector of the lower switching element. Two resistors(R1,R2) are connected to the motor winding, the collector of the lower switching, and a base of the upper switching element. A capacitor is connected to a joint point of the emitter of the upper switching element and the resistors. |
