A method and an apparatus for receiving signal in an orthogonal frequency division multiple access system are provided to improve receiving performance by considering a channel status determined by an interference signal and noise. An apparatus(700) for receiving a signal in an orthogonal frequency division multiple access system includes a diversity receiver, an interference remover, and a controller(710). The diversity receiver receives at least one reception signal and couples the received signals. The interference remover regenerates an interference signal having a strength which is more than a predetermined threshold value and reduces regenerated interference signals from the receive signals. The controller(710) controls to inter-operate the diversity receiver and the interference remover or to selectively operate the diversity receiver and the interference remover according to a channel status of the reception signals.
