A storage receptacle for kitchen utensils is provided. The storage receptacl e comprises a base and a receiving portion for receiving at least a portion of at least one kitchen utensil. The receiving portion is pivotally attached to the base and is moveable between a first position and a second position through an intermediate position, the receiving portion forms an acute angle with the base when the receiving portion is in the seco nd position. The receptacle further includes a locking mechanism provided to fix the receivin g portion in the second position.
