A method for removing advertisement data in a digital broadcasting receiver is provided to maximally and efficiently use a limited storage space of an HDD(Hard Disc Drive) by selectively deleting the advertisement data, which are stored in connection with the multimedia data in the HDD. When various types of multimedia data, which are requested to be recorded, are stored in an HDD, positional information of advertisement data is stored in connection with corresponding multimedia data. If the advertisement data for the multimedia data are requested to be removed, multimedia data list information stored in the HDD is read(S210). The positional information of advertisement data is read(S214). Advertisement data inserted into the multimedia data are removed by using the positional information of advertisement data(S214). Multimedia data where advertisement data are removed are stored, and record information is updated(S216).
