A method for tuning a broadcasting channel in a digital broadcasting system is provided to set and register a user channel map for a physical channel having a high signal level. A control block checks whether a key operation signal for automatically tuning a broadcasting channel is received(202,204). When the key operation signal is received, the control block scans the broadcasting channel by using the first tuner and the second tuner(206). The control block stores broadcasting information of the scanned broadcasting channel in the entire channel map(208). The control block compares signal levels for the same broadcasting channel according to the entire channel map(210). The control block sets and registers a user channel map for a broadcasting channel with a high signal level(212). The control block tunes the broadcasting channel according to the set and registered user channel map(214).
