A steering apparatus for a vehicle is provided to stably steer the vehicle by smoothly transferring the steering force of the vehicle to a wheel through a link mechanism. A steering apparatus for a vehicle includes a gear mechanism. The gear mechanism includes a bevel gear(3), a middle gear(6), and a rack gear(8). The bevel gear is engaged with and fixed to an end of a steering shaft. A bevel gear tooth section enmeshed with the bevel gear is formed at one end of the middle gear and a worm gear tooth is formed at the other end of the middle gear. A rack gear tooth enmeshed with the worm gear tooth of the middle gear is formed in the rack gear to convert the rotational force of the worm gear tooth to a reciprocal force. The rack gear converts the reciprocal force to a rotational force to transfer the rotational force to the link mechanism.
