A method for limiting viewing according to a viewing grade in a multi-functional product is provided to limit the viewing by passing through an authentication procedure when a disc of a high viewing grade is outputted. When a play signal is received from an input device(S201), a microcomputer checks whether a grade of a disc is a viewing grade which is higher than a reference value(S203). When the grade of the disc is the viewing grade which is higher than the reference value, the microcomputer outputs an authentication request procedure(S207). The microcomputer plays image data only when a correct password is inputted(S209,S211). The microcomputer checks a timer in a multi-functional product. If a uniform time elapses(S213), the microcomputer provides an authentication procedure restart command signal for restarting an authentication procedure(S215). The microcomputer pauses for playing the outputted image data according to the restart command signal, and outputs the authentication request procedure(S217). The microcomputer plays the image data again only when the correct password is inputted(S219,S221).
