A method for controlling screen saver operation in a DVD/VCR(Digital Versatile Disk/Video Cassette Recorder) combo system is provided to allow a user to know the screen saver operation through a voice by outputting the voice for informing the screen saver operation when a current mode is converted into a screen saver mode after a uniform time when the play of a DVD/VCR tape is completed. A control unit checks whether the play of a DVD/VCR is completed(S300,S302). When the play of the DVD/VCR is completed, the control unit counts time from a time point when the play is completed(S304). The control unit operates a screen saver in which a time when the counted time is set up as a screen saver operation time elapses(S306). The control unit outputs a voice for informing the screen saver operation in the screen saver operation(S308). When a user does not press a key until a predetermined uniform time elapses after the screen saver operation(S310), the control unit turns off the power of a DVD/VCR combo system(S312).
