A computer and a control method thereof are provided to maximize space usability and reduce manufacturing costs by simplifying an input part for a pointing device. A display part displays an image and a pointer position input part receives position information of a pointer(20) from a user. A keyboard(60) includes a main button(21) and a function button(50) for converting the main button to an input button. A microcomputer(80) displays the pointer to the display part according to the position information of the pointer. If the main button is converted to the input button of the pointer by the function button, the microcomputer performs a function corresponding to the position of the pointer by input of the main button. The microcomputer determines that the main button is converted to the input pointer while the function button is selected.
