An entrance/exit device for elevator, comprising a reader for reading information sent from a transmission device and a controller for controlling operation of the elevator based on whether or not there is information from the transmission device read by the reader. The reader is adapted to read information from the transmission only when the transmission device is within a predetermined detection range inside the entrance/exit device of the elevator.
