An assembly/adjustment method and device for a braking/transmission apparatus such as an electromagnetic brake, the method and device have a pressure receiving plate rotating integrally with a drive shaft, and also have first and second pressing plates oppositely arranged holding the pressure receiving plate. In the assembly/adjustment method, when the drive shaft is braked or when rotational force of the drive shaft is transmitted, the first pressing plate is moved to press the pressure receiving plate, and when braking of the drive shaft or transmission of rotational force of the drive shaft is released, both pressing plates are separated at a predetermined gap. In the method, first the gap between the pressing plates when the drive shaft is braked or when the transmission of rotational force of the drive shaft is released is adjusted using a gap adjusting member defining the predetermined gap, and then the second pressing plate is fixed.
