An oil seal for preventing leakage of oil is provided to obtain an excellent oil leakage prevention function as compared with an oil seal having a bidirectional helix by forming an oil leakage prevention rib. An oil seal is inserted into a drive shaft and has a bidirectional helix(22) to prevent leakage of oil. An oil leakage prevention rib(28) is formed on an inclined surface of the helix and is separated from the inclined surface by a predetermined interval. The oil leakage prevention rib is arranged in a rotational direction opposite to the drive shaft to interrupt the leakage of oil. The oil leakage prevention rib is formed in the oil seal having the bidirectional helix to have an oil leakage prevention effect by an one-directional helix. |
