A reservation recording method in a DVD/VCR(Digital Video Disc/Video Cassette Recorder) combo system is provided to automatically change a recording mode of a storing medium to another recording mode capable of extending a recording time when a space of the storing medium such as a DVD and a VCR tape is insufficient in reservation recording. A control unit receives a reservation recording channel and time information which are requested for reservation recording, and sets a reservation recording mode(S300,S302,S304). When a reservation recording time arrives(S306), the control unit checks a residual quantity of a storing medium for recording a broadcasting program which is requested for the reservation recording(S310). The control unit checks whether the checked recordable residual space of the storing medium is sufficient to record the broadcasting program(S312). When the residual space of the storing medium is insufficient, the control unit automatically changes a recording mode of the storing medium to another recording mode of the storing medium capable of extending a recording time(S316). The control unit performs the reservation recording of the broadcasting program in the changed recording mode(S318).
