A projection TV pointing device using an IR(Infrared Ray) remote controller is provided to install a beam splitter in a projection TV, separate an IR signal received from a remote controller, recognize a position on a coordinate, and display the recognized position on a screen of the projection TV by a cursor. An IR remote controller(102) transmits an IR signal for remotely pointing to a screen(100) of a projection TV. A lens(104), located in a central part of a rear surface of the projection TV, condenses the IR signal transmitted to the IR remote controller(102). A beam splitter(106), located in a rear surface on a straight line with the lens(104), refracts the IR signal condensed through the lens(104) at a specific angle. An IR filter(108) filters the IR signal refracted and inputted from the beam splitter(106). An IR sensor(110) senses the IR signal filtered and inputted through the IR filter(108). A pointer display unit(112) calculates a position in the screen(100) indicated by the IR remote controller(102) by using the IR sensor(110) sensed from the IR sensor(110), and displays the calculated position on the screen(100) of the projection TV with a cursor and a pointer by using a position coordinate of the IR remote controller(102).
