<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display unit for controlling the size of an input image signal according to the viewing and listening distance for holding always an angle of field adequately. <P>SOLUTION: A display device 10 includes a display panel 22 for displaying an input image signal; a viewing and listening distance calculation unit 23 for calculating a viewing and listening distance between the display unit 10 and a viewer; and a resizer 16 for resizing the input image signal according to the calculated viewing and listening distance, and the resized input image signal is displayed on a display panel 22. The display device 10 includes a light source for illuminating the display panel 22, and the lighting/extinction of the light source is so controlled that only a region for displaying the input image signal, which are resized by the resizer 16, is illuminated. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
