PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable to efficiently acquire position information corresponding to a photographed image, and to execute reduction in power consumption. SOLUTION: In an imaging apparatus having a GPS, acquired position information in the GPS is stored as attribute information corresponding to the photographed image in a storage unit. This configuration eliminates the necessity of correspondence processing with GPS logs in generating display information displaying the photographing information of the photographed image, the display information can be directly acquired from the attribute information, and efficient generation of display information can be realized. Further, since the apparatus employs a configuration in which the photographing frequency is monitored to calculate a usage frequency per unit time, and when the usage frequency is less than a previously determined threshold; intermittent power supply to the GPS device is executed, and the useless power consumption in the GPS device can be prevented.
