PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an outer package for a battery capable of suppressing the corrosion of a battery tab by a hydrofluoric acid generated by an electrolyte and moisture in a pinching part with an outer package and a battery tab, having high durability to a damage of cracks or the like, a packaging method of the battery preventing short-circuiting between a metal foil layer of the outer package and the battery tab, and a battery using above. SOLUTION: The outer package of a battery has a structure formed by laminating at least a base material layer, a metal foil layer having a chemical treatment layer on both sides, an acid denaturation polyolefin layer and a thermal adhesive resin layer in this order. A battery body is stored in the outer package of a battery, the adhesive resin layers are made to face each other, the battery body is sealed by heat-sealing at its fringe, the battery tab is pinched, and both outer packages of sides subjected to heat-sealing are extended to be extended ends, at least one of outer ends of the extended ends is folded, the deformation of the outer package is kept in a folded state.
