PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information extraction device and an information extraction method for extracting bit columns expressed by using a plurality of patterns or data constituted by such bit columns. SOLUTION: The information extraction device is constituted by: inputting an image of a tile-like pattern comprised of a plurality of rectangle images with the same size having preset graphics inside; segmenting rectangle patterns from the image using grids of windows with size equivalent to tile with the known size; generating a pattern by stacking the segmented rectangle patterns; inputting the stacked pattern and a preset pattern for positioning with the size equivalent to that of a tile pattern to perform an operation for calculating a boundary of the tiles in the stacked pattern using a matched filter; detecting a peak value among the plurality of operation results and calculating misalignment of a segmenting position when the rectangle patterns are segmented and the boundary of the tiles from a value set in the matched filter when the peak is detected to reset the segmenting position.
