PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an article carrying facility capable of confirming whether or not to be a state capable of properly controlling travel operation of a travel body on the basis of distance measuring information of an optical distance measuring means, without maximally reducing carrying efficiency, when arranging a shielding body capable of freely opening-closing a travel passage in the middle of the travel passage. SOLUTION: A control means is constituted so that when switching the shielding body to a closing state from an opening state, travel stopping processing is performed for stopping travel of the travel body positioned in a travel passage part being rather on the nonexistent side of the optical distance measuring means than the shielding body among the travel passage, and when switching the shielding body to the opening state from the closing state in a state of stopping the travel of the travel body, distance measuring state confirming processing is performed for discriminating whether or not to be a distance measuring proper state capable of confirming that the travel body travels and operates under a preset travel condition on the basis of distance measuring information Db and Da of the optical distance measuring means by making the travel body travel and operate under the preset travel condition, and when in the distance measuring proper state, travel operation processing is started.
