PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a piston for an automatic transmission for a vehicle in which operability of the piston is not reduced even in the time of extremely low temperature, and installation even in the limited space is possible. SOLUTION: A brake piston 80 is molded by the process of aluminum die-casting, which enables the piston of complicated shape to be installed even in a limited space of the automatic transmission 16. Thus, the automatic transmission 16 can be made compact in size. Further, at a time of very low temperature, the sliding resistance of a lip seal 90 is extremely lower than that of the conventional O-ring.
