PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten a direct-acting actuator axially, and miniaturize the whole direct-acting actuator. SOLUTION: The direct-acting actuator 10 comprises a circular spline 28 having a screw groove 40 in the inner peripheral surface, a flexible spline 26 disposed in the circular spline 28 having a screw thread 38 in the outer peripheral surface, a pulse generator 20 partially engaged with the circular spline 28 by deflecting the flexible spline non-circularly, a harmonic drive gearing formed to cause the axial displacement of the circular spline by relative rotation of the screw thread 38 and the screw groove 40 with the circular spline 28 and the flexibile spline 26, a motor 12 to rotate and drive the pulse generator 20, and an output shaft 32 connected to one end of the circular spline 28, and coaxially retained with the circular spline 28 axially and slidably.
