The invention relates to a control system for controlling an electrically controllable appliance (4) that is situated outside of a vehicle (16). Said controllable appliance (4) comprises a control device (6) with a receiver (8), and the vehicle comprises a device (22) for determining the position thereof and is equipped with a transmitter (26), which interacts with the receiver (8) of the controllable appliance (4). In addition, the control system comprises an electronic storage device (6) with geographic information including an item of information pertaining to the position of the controllable appliance (4), and is provided with an electronic data processing device (6). Said electronic data processing device correlates a position signal (10) from the position determination device (22), said position signal containing an item of information pertaining to the position of the vehicle (16), with the geographic information.
