PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a non-asbestos friction material for making a good sound and having abnormal sound characteristics without impairing performance of a friction material itself such as friction and wear performance. SOLUTION: The non-asbestos friction material is provided in which a friction material comprising a thermosetting resin bonding material, a reinforced fiber and a friction control material is molded integrally with a pressure plate, wherein the friction material includes a first layer friction material on a side of a friction surface and a second friction material on a side of the pressure plate, and a premix containing at least an elastomer and a crosslinking agent is added in the second layer friction material. The premix preferably contains a fiber, and 10 to 97 vol.% of the elastomer is preferably added in the premix. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
