<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce transmission time required for transmitting content and enlarge a remaining memory capacity at a transmission destination. <P>SOLUTION: A device of a content transmission origin is provided with a user interface module 31, a reproduction history management module 33, a reproduction module 35, a recording module 37 and a transmission module 41. The recording module is provided with a stream division determination part 37a and a filing part 37b. When content is recorded, the stream division determination part determines whether stream content is to be divided, and the filing part files the content based on the determination made by the stream division determination part. The transmission module is provided with a file transmission determination part 41a and determines whether a file is to be transmitted by referring to a reproduction history table.
