PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a device for assembling a carriage assembly, wherein a variation of caulked (deformed) state of a spacer part is suppressed when a suspension is fixed to a carriage arm. SOLUTION: In the method for assembling a carriage assembly, a fitting hole 10a formed in a carriage arm 10 is aligned with the spacer hole 12b of a suspension 12, a ball 20 having a diameter equal to or more than the inner diameter of the spacer hole 12b is passed through the spacer hole 12b to caulk the peripheral edge of the spacer hole 12b of the spacer part 12a, and the suspension 12 is fixed to the carriage arm 10, wherein the ball 20 is pressed from both sides of the spacer hole 12b to be held by two pressing members 40a and 40b, and the two pressing members 40a and 40b are moved to make the ball 20 pass through the spacer hole 12b while ultrasonic vibrations are applied to the two pressing members 40a and 40b.
