PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent deterioration of durability even when a pulling load is applied. SOLUTION: The linear actuator 10 is provided with a worm 58 and a worm wheel 59 for transmitting the rotation of a motor 47 to a shaft 30 having a male screw part 31 after reducing its speed, a nut 33 threaded to the male screw part 31 of the shaft 30 for forward/backward movement following the positive/reverse rotation of the shaft 30, a moving cylinder 36 fixed to the nut 33 for forward/backward movement relative to a housing 11, a one-way clutch 64 for preventing the reverse rotation of the shaft 30, and a base plate 68A for braking operation when receiving the thrust of the shaft 30 when rotated. The base plate 68A and the one-way clutch 64 are arranged on a side end part opposite from the male screw part 31 of the shaft 30, and a nut 68E is fixed, and a washer 68D having abrasion resistance is interposed between the nut 68E and the base plate 68A.
