PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat insulating cover for a container which is not bulky but convenient when the cover is carried without being fitted to the container, easily attachable and detachable to and from the container, excellent in appearance when the cover is fitted to the container, and capable of maintaining excellent heat insulating properties for a long time. SOLUTION: The heat insulating cover is equipped with a bag-shaped heat insulating cover body 2 having both front and rear walls 3 and 4 facing each other in the longitudinal direction with the lower end thereof opened, and a bottom wall 6 to open and close a lower end opening 21 of the heat insulating cover body 2. The container B is inserted from the lower end opening 21 of the heat insulating cover body 2 to project a mouth B1 upwardly from the mouth through-hole 53 so as to be fitted to the container B. A gusset 5 heat-sealed between the front and rear walls 3 and 4 is provided at the upper end of the heat insulating cover body 2, and the lower edge 71 of each heat-sealed part 7 between the gusset 5 and the front wall 3 and between the gusset 5 and the rear wall 4 is upwardly convex.
