<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically power off a broadcasting signal receiving apparatus by detecting that a user does not utilize the apparatus, or by predicting that the broadcasting signal receiving apparatus is not utilized on the basis of the operational situation of the user. <P>SOLUTION: A broadcasting signal receiving apparatus is characterized in that the apparatus is equipped with: a reception unit for receiving a broadcasting signal; a detection unit for detecting the end of a program; and an operation unit for accepting operations from a user, and in that a power source is turned off when the apparatus is not operated before and after the end of the program. For example, in a television signal receiving apparatus including a detection unit for detecting program switching from a television signal or from an electronic program guide and an operation unit for accepting apparatus operations from a user, a power source is turned off when program switching is detected and a user does not operate the television signal receiving apparatus during a period of time before and after the detection. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
