<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vibration damping device and a vibration damping method for a rotary machine capable of inhibiting whirling vibration of the rotary machine speedily with a simple means, in a rotary machine consisting of a plurality of axes. <P>SOLUTION: The vibration damping device is provided with a vehicle body 1 and a frame 3 which are stationary, an air compressor 4 supported on the frame 3 and equipped with two rotation axes 6a, 6b, servo motors 7a, 7b for rotating and driving the two rotation axes 6a, 6b respectively, an accelerometer 9 for measuring acceleration of the frame 3 and a controller 8 for drive-controlling the servo motors 7a, 7b. The controller 8 controls to attain a phase of the lowest acceleration level by changing a phase of either the servo motor 7a or the servo motor 7b while monitoring an acceleration signal from the accelerometer 9 while the two rotation shafts 6a, 6b rotate. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
