PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high frequency variable gain amplifier and a communication apparatus, capable of preventing the deterioration of a passing characteristic in a high frequency signal even in a low-gain mode of an amplification gain, and also capable of input/output impedance matching compatible at the time of a high-gain mode and a low-gain mode, and incorporating a matching component. SOLUTION: By turning off a high frequency switch 60, the high frequency signal passing through a high frequency switch 62 is prevented from being leaked from an impedance element 5 to the direction of a power source terminal.
