PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem that colors can often be viewed differently independently of the accuracy of a color profile when outputs cannot actually be compared under a standard light source whereat the color profile is produced in the case of executing highly accurate color matching. SOLUTION: An image processing apparatus disclosed herein generates color patch data required for generating a device profile for color matching, and outputs the generated color patch data from the device for the color matching. The image processing apparatus acquires a characteristic of environment light under an environment wherein a color matched image is observed and carries out colorimetry in matching with the obtained characteristic of environmental light in the case of carrying out the colorimetry for generating the color profile for the color matching from the color patch data. The image processing apparatus generates the device color profile for the color matching on the basis of a value of the colorimetry of the color patch data obtained by the colorimetry.
