The invention relates to a method for labelling and analysing nucleic acids. In particular the invention relates to a method for analysing nucleic acids, according to which the nucleic acids to be identified, which are in the form of single-strand nucleic acid strands that are partially hybridised with protective strands, (i.e. over part of the total length of the nucleic acid strand), are brought into contact with substances. Said substances react specifically with nucleobases of the single-strand sections of the nucleic acid strands and can enter into a reversible redox reaction by the known electroanalytical method.
