The carrier has a support unit (32), and a connecting device (60) that comprises a receptacle for inserting a part of a medical implant (12), where the device comprises a connecting unit. An operating device is operatably by a user for transferring the connecting device from a connecting position in which the implant is retained in the receptacle, to a detaching position in which the carrier is detachable from the implant. An independent claim is also included for a surgical implantation system with a medical implant.
