<p>[PROBLEMS] To provide a method for detecting human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (which is a pathogenic virus) rapidly with high sensitivity for use in the diagnosis of the infection with human immunodeficiency virus type 1. [MEANS FOR SOLVING PROBLEMS] An oligonucleotide primer capable of specifically hybridizing with any nucleotide sequence which is designed based on the nucleotide sequence of the pol region of human immunodeficiency virus type 1; a method for the amplification of a nucleic acid using the primer; a method for the diagnosis of the infection with human immunodeficiency virus type 1 based on the detection of nucleic acid amplification; and a kit for the diagnosis of the infection with human immunodeficiency virus type 1.</p>
