PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable accurate identification of chemical substances that will not make mistakes with other chemical substances, even if common names based on local rules are defined in addition to proper names for chemical substances. SOLUTION: A vertical constraint graph matching a chemical reaction process is selected from among vertical constraint graphs, stored in advance, in a process database 14a, and the data of each step represented by the selected vertical constraint graph is searched for the descriptions of chemical substances. If descriptions of chemical substances are found, a message prompting the input of corresponding common names is displayed on a display part 18; and when the operator enters a common name, the entered common names are stored in a name correspondence table 14c, in association with the proper names of the chemical substances.
