<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydroponic technique with which the development of diseases caused by excess moisture injury can be prevented to simplify an apparatus and reduce wastes. <P>SOLUTION: A hydroponic apparatus is equipped with a trough-like container in which the interior is a flow channel for water or a culture solution and a holding container 2 provided on the upper side of the trough-like container in the longitudinal direction of the trough-like container, forming a two-tank structure and holding plants. The holding container 2 is provided with a container body 2a having a recessed part for holding the plants, hole parts 2c formed in the bottom 2b of the container body 2a as openings for passing roots of the plants downward, a nonwoven fabric 2d which is a holding material provided in the recessed part of the container body 2a for holding seeds or the plants and a draining means for making water or the culture solution sticking to the container body 2a and the holding material 2d flow downward. The draining means is tapered parts 2f formed by tilting the lower part of the container body 2a downward.
